Everyone seems to just love article marketing until they know how much work is involved to actually get a steady flow of traffic to your website through this measure. The fact is, while article marketing might sound easy, it is not the fastest way to get traffic and sales.

On the internet, there are 2 ways to generate traffic: Paid traffic and free traffic. The problem is, free traffic never is free, because you pay for it by investing your time in it. Paid traffic works great if you have some cash and this is how established internet marketers make money online. Free traffic is used by people who are focusing on a niche and want to establish a long term presence.

So is article marketing worth it? It really depends upon you. But my research says that article links are not really worth it. You need thousands of them pointing to your website to gain a considerable amount of link juice. Article links are worthless because nearly everyone submits their duplicate articles to article directories for a link back. And because there are so many outbound links from article directories, the link power is diluted.

But article marketing can be valuable if you want to get more than just backlinks to your website. A lot of successful online marketers use article marketing to become an `expert` in their niche. The articles allow them to pre-sell their products to their customers. In this way, article marketing can really help you increase your sales.

The bottom line is that very few people actually take the time to write articles and build their websites content. Article marketing can prove to be lucrative if:

1. You know a lot about your topic of discussion

2. You can pump out 1-2 articles per day for months

3. You can effectively pre-sell your product in your articles.

In conclusion, article marketing can be lucrative if you manage to pump out 200-300 quality articles. You can also use article marketing to provide useful information to your prospective customers. The only downside of article marketing is that it mostly requires a lot of time to prove fruitful.

Why Affiliate Marketing Might Not Work!

by admin on June 26, 2009

Everyone knows that affiliate marketing works, but statistics suggest that only a handful of people are making money in this cut-throat market. The mass majority of people earn NOTHING when it comes to affiliate marketing.

It also goes without saying that there have been hundreds of books written on affiliate marketing. Even though these books provide good methods to make money from affiliate marketing, most newbies do not even make a dime.

I have been checking many affiliate product websites and they have a lot in common: Their sales page has pictures of expensive cars and homes, a “proof of earnings” such as checks showing 5-figures etc and an “easy” ebook that you need to follow in order to get rich. All this makes sure that their visitors convert at a high percentage and that the authors make a lot of money. Greed is always a powerful motivator.

Now, the author of the affiliate marketing books always teaches people the right stuff. The only problem is, the information mentioned in the ebook is never complete. A huge problem with affiliate marketing ebooks is that the contain little or no information on how to get quality traffic to your website. This area of negligence makes it impossible for the reader to make money online.

A lot of ebooks simply mention “try to get quality traffic” or “your best best is to get relevant traffic” etc. They just tell you to buy traffic from Adwords, try to rank high in Google or submit your content to social bookmarking websites. But they fail to mention HOW to use those techniques in the right way to get the maximum traffic.

For these reasons, anyone who is new to affiliate marketing loses a lot of time and/or money by trying to follow what was mentioned in the ebook. You can have a fabulous affiliate website but if you have no traffic, you will make no money.

This article is not written to bash the authors of affiliate marketing ebooks. It is simply written with the intend to let you know what the inherent fault is when you read these kind of ebooks. That being said, you can make a lot of money online through your affiliate website if you simply understand how and where to get quality traffic to your website.

My First Press Release – Case Study!

by admin on June 24, 2009

I started Quantum SEO Labs in March 2009, after a grueling year of testing out different SEO tips & tricks and trying out various online marketing strategies. In the beginning when I tried to learn SEO & internet marketing, nothing made sense! I spent over $4000 on various e-books, courses and services, only to find out that nothing worked. Although this might seem like a small amount when compared to other newbies who have lost thousands, for me it was quite a huge sum. I finally started becoming successful when I kept on focusing on just one technique for a prolonged period.

To cut the long story show, after 2-3 months of running the company, managing the customers and testing the market, I decided to venture out directly into the market and make the company known by sending out a paid press release.

Through the countless reviews I have read, I came to realize that www.prweb.com is one of the best online newswires available. Once I was done testing the waters, I spent $140 on a press release on www.prweb.com, letting everyone know about my company.

The results were quite surprising. For one thing, I received a call from a Canadian journalist, who suggested an interview in order to get more publicity. Apart from that, the press release was sent to over 250,000 RSS subscribers, regional targets and media digests. Till this minute, I have had over 13,000 impressions of my press release and around 1300 page reads, suggesting that the press release was well-worth it. The best part, however, is that the press release is only 18 hours old currently.

In my opinion, the $140 that I spent on www.prweb.com has helped me increase my exposure to a huge extent. Online media is one of the easiest ways to get your message across if you do it the right way. I understand that most people shy away from press releases because it makes them “visible” in the market, but if you have a unique idea or product, not sending out a press release would be stupid.

That being said, just because a lot of people do not put in the effort to write a proper press release and send it to the media, chances are that people who do focus on this measure will benefit a lot. For one thing, press release websites contain NO spam. Secondly, only high quality, targeted content is approved for publication.

I would suggest sending out a paid press release every month for your online business to be an easy way to increase your revenues.

I have been trying to utilize different services which provide you links from high PR pages. Recently I bought a package of 24 links from PR3, PR 4, PR 5 and PR 6 pages. The 24 links came down to about $450 in total. In the package PR 3 links were the most but the PR 6 links were the least.

As soon as my order had been fulfilled, I checked every single link location to make sure that the links were DoFollow. I also checked the number of outbound links per page, which, to my surprise turned out to be over 150  links on average.

I have been consistently tracking my results from these new links and I am a little disappointed. Although links from high PR pages sound really good in theory, when you actually try to put them in practice they do not work that well.

The first reason for the lower ROI they provide is simply the higher price that they charge. For the $450 I paid for the 24 links, the average comes down to around $20 per link. Now, because this was a discount package, had you bought these high PR links at their normal price, you would have paid almost double.

The other problem with the companies providing links on high PR pages is that they put so many links on the same page, that the whole process loses its value. Think about it. If a company puts 200 outbound links on a single page, the link juice sent to the target is severely reduced. It boils down to you paying much more than you get out of the deal.

As far as the rankings go, I have seen no improvement. This might be due to the fact that I am already number 8 on Google for competitive keyword phrases, but I had personally thought that 24 links from high PR pages would help me move up a rank or two. This did not happen.

In conclusion, even though buying high PR links can be really beneficial, you have to understand the whole process before spending money. Always ask the SEO company about the number of outbound links on the pages they provide you the links from. It makes a huge difference.

I would instead suggest going for links which are put up on the inner pages of high PR websites. This makes sure that they are much cheaper and more effective from a price point-of-view.

Are Directory Submissions Still Effective

by admin on June 22, 2009

Directory submissions seem to be one of the main ways of building link popularity used by many SEO companies out there. When you pay for a directory submission service, your SEO company submits your URL to 400 or 500 (sometimes 1000) directories out there on the web. SEO companies claim that directory submissions is one of the fastest ways of improving link popularity.

While directory submissions increase your link popularity, they do not help you with the traffic or your rankings much. Increasing link popularity is totally different from increasing your rankings. There are some websites with only 200 links ranking higher than websites with over 2000 links. The reason of their ranking high is because SEO has now become a game of link quality.

The first reason why directory submissions pass minimal to no link juice is because they contain only links and no content. And for that reason, most of them have another fancy name: link farm. Because of the lack of content, search engines stop favoring web directories and make sure that their outgoing links do not pass a lot of value.

That being said, another reason of their low link value is that everyone is submitting their link to the directories in order to get link juice but no one is passing link juice to them. It is not hard to imagine each category of a directory to have over 200 outbound links. This also goes without saying that directories have a very high percentage of spam.

Directories also do not provide enough traffic to the target websites because no one uses directories as a navigation system. People normally Google up anything they want to find. Even though directories were thought of as a navigation tool, they do not function that way anymore.

However, there are a few high quality directories out there like Yahoo Directory and DMOZ, which can provide you with a lot of link juice. The downside for inclusion into them is the high fee that they charge.

In the end, my advise to you would be to be wary when you pay for a directory submission service as the return that you are getting is quite minimal.
