Setting up your website is one of the easiest things to do online. You only need to provide your coder with the specs of your website and it will all be designed for you. The difficult part is marketing the website in the right way – having a web presence.
Most websites do not have any web presence. A lot of webmasters simply throw up a website and expect it to start receiving traffic and making sales. They just do not understand that fact that in order to get business, they have to aggressively undertake marketing.
Increasing your web presence means doing a lot of things at the same time. If you capitalized on only one way of getting traffic, you are leaving money on the table. Here is what you can do to increase your web presence:
1. Get high quality backlinks to your website: Anyone can get links. The real work is involved in getting respected, high quality links from authoritative websites. These can be done using reciprocal linking (with caution) or simply finding ways to post your link on an authority website. Once you get the hang of it, the process becomes simply. If you follow what the majority of people do i.e. get links from directories, you will not increase your web presence to a great extent.
2. Use social bookmarking: Social bookmarking can be a great way to put your content in front of other people’s eyes. Using a tool such as Bookmarking Demon, you can bookmark your content over many websites in an hour. Although you will get only minimal traffic using soical bookmarking, the links that you get from these websites can provide value to your web presence.
3. Send out a press release: If you have a legitimate online business, you simply have to send out a press release. It can be related to your products and services, your company news, structural changes etc. Anything newsworthy can be mentioned in the press release. But keep in mind that we are talking about paid press releases. Free press releases do not get distributed anywhere and are a good way to waste your time.
Using these 3 measures will dramatically increase your inbound links and improve your traffic. If you do it the right way, you will also increase your revenues.
